Together for Regional Health – The Barossa Light and Lower Northern Region

Healthy Environs initially worked with The Barossa Council, District Council of Mallala, Town of Gawler and Light Regional Council (with support from the Barossa RDA) to develop their Regional Public Health Plan 'A Sustainable Region for a Healthy Community'.

The Plan embraces a ‘whole of region’ approach to Local Government’s role in community health and identifies opportunities for joint initiatives and partnerships with relevant organisations. Healthy Environs subsequently developed and facilitated a process for implementing the Plan. An inclusive approach was followed bringing a broad range of agencies together at workshops and forums throughout both stages to discuss issues and opportunities and map out common priorities and ways of working together. In consultation with stakeholders, a template to assist in reporting progress on the Plan’s implementation was drafted. Workshops have provided a good platform for the regional Councils to engage stakeholders in the future monitoring of the Plan.
