When people think about successful towns and cities, they often describe places where they enjoy spending time. 

Places where they can stroll to a café, walk safely to school, explore local parks, meet friends in the main street or simply enjoy being outdoors. 

At Healthy Environs, we believe healthier communities are built through genuine partnerships, respect for culture and a deep connection to place. Much of our work takes place on Country, working alongside communities, local governments and organisations to improve health, wellbeing, inclusion and environmental outcomes. 

One of the most valuable contributions to any Disability, Access and Inclusion Plan comes from people with lived experience. When engagement is done well, these voices don’t just inform a document, they reshape how organisations understand barriers, design solutions, and measure progress.

Awards are just one way to measure value of a program. But when we learned we’d helped The City of Salisbury win the SA Health and Environmental Health Australia Awards, we were happy to talk all things mosquito surveillance at the recent Environmental Health Australia SA Conference.

At Healthy Environs we're pleased to have recently joined Community Centres SA (the peak body for over 100 community and neighbourhood centres located across metropolitan Adelaide and regional South Australia). As managers of a remote Community Hub facility and outreach programs, membership with Community Centres SA has given us access to a network of centre operators who (like us) are working to build strong and healthy communities.

Healthy Environs has been working closely with Whyalla City Council to help develop their Public Health Plan, which is now open for community consultation.

The plan contains a number of key themes that represent the key community priorities.
