Council Reviews - The Local Nuisance and Litter Control Act

The Local Nuisance and Litter Control Act 2016 aims to help communities resolve local environmental nuisance matters. Under the Act, Councils undertake an array of functions and responsibilities to regulate local nuisance and littering within their area. The litter provisions of the Act came into effect on the 1st February 2017 and the nuisance provisions of the Act commenced on the 1st July 2017.

Healthy Environs Pty Ltd was engaged by 3 local government authorities to research the resourcing and procedural impact of the Act on Council operations and budgets. Cost forecasting was undertaken in collaboration with Skopion Business Consultants.
