How we marked Men and Women’s Health Weeks in 2020

This year Healthy Environs rolled out a comprehensive event program for Men’s and Women's Health Weeks.

Men’s Health Week, held in June, provides an opportunity to educate the public about what can be done to improve the state of men’s health while providing information on convenient health services available to boys, men and their families.

Women’s Health Week is dedicated to encouraging women to invest in themselves by focusing on their health and wellbeing. Women in all walks of life are prone to inadvertently putting the wellbeing of their families ahead of their own. This week serves as a reminder for all women and girls to make their own health a priority and take better care of themselves. It brings into focus the importance of practising positive and simple healthy habits into their daily life.

Healthy Environs, through our community health partnership with BHP and the Roxby Health Forum, was proud to support Men’s and Women’s Health weeks in 2020, through:

  • Working in collaboration with the Roxby Downs Doctors Surgery to promote Men’s Health checks. Health checks included assessing blood pressure, blood sugar, weight, height and body mass index as well as a chat with the local doctor to discuss results and health advice.
  • Interviews covering a range of physical and mental health topics on the local radio show "The Hub Cap".
  • Networking functions at the local Roxby Community Hub.
  • Awareness and education through social media and at key local venues.

These events were made possible through the support of our event partners BHP, Ego Pharmaceuticals, Wellbeing SA, Jean Hailes for Women's Health and local business Desert Scents for collaborating with us. A special thanks to the Roxby Downs community for always showing up and lending their support.

We hope to continue bringing important health events to local communities.
